Preparations for Stillness Touch

Below are some suggestions for how to orient to Dynamic Stillness within

Before your session

It is helpful to hydrate and be well-nourished but not full. Give yourself plenty of time so you are not rushing in. Allow yourself to begin to orient more towards your inner self. Ideally, arrive rested, available, and prepared to drop into the stillness within. Many of us are unpracticed at this, so the first few sessions may be about getting acquainted with this more relaxed and receptive state.

During your session

Allow yourself to let go of ordinary ways of perceiving from only your head center (where we tend to observe, track and name everything that is happening). Begin to sense-perceive from within your whole body. Then, rest back with open-hearted awareness. Sensing the atmosphere from within develops the capacity to remain present, become embodied awareness, and to connect deeply with your own natural life forces. In time this increases your ability to remain at peace more continuously, sense the health within you on a more ongoing basis, and learn to trust how your own body informs you through its inherent intelligence. It also enables you to be with the intimate intensities that sometimes arise in sessions.

Often, these sessions are deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. It can be common to doze off or drift into a near sleep state. It’s also possible that you may encounter phenomenon such as memories (pleasant or unpleasant), emotional issues, thoughts, feelings and spiritual insights. If they arise, understand that these are aspects of the self that your consciousness has chosen to bring to your awareness at this time. By remaining neutral and present, these parts of you will re-join the whole. See if you can allow whatever arises just to be there as it is without doing anything about it. This is the expression of unconditional love. If, however, something feels too intense, speak to it and let me know so that together we can modify and adjust the session in a way that supports you to be with the process in a relaxed manner.

Clients often describe feeling more integrated, balanced, relaxed, restored, and having a sense of being “at home” in themselves. They may also report resolution of physical symptoms, either at the time of the session or in the days after the session. Sometimes personal issues or psychological patterns come to light.

After your session

Have a cup of tea or take a stroll before going back to your normal routine. You may notice right after the session how calm, centered, connected you feel. This is your true self. Embody this for as long as you can as you re-enter your day.

Stay with the tonal resonance of the qualities and characteristics that you experienced during or at the end of the session for as long as it is naturally there. Feel what it feels like to be feeling what you are feeling. Notice the qualities, characteristics, and the impact or effect they have on you. Over time you may notice how this naturally comes to some understanding or resolution.

If you met uncomfortable parts of yourself that have been repressed, know that within the growing capacity of your relaxed, natural state, they can be faced, understood, and digested more easily.

In time, as more of you begins to acclimate, this natural state will become the new norm, and living life from the body-felt-sense of wholeness will gradually replace the former mind/body separation of duality. As previously separated parts of ourselves reunite, the inertial energy that was once held up in these adaptive coping mechanisms is now free to return to the whole as life-giving energy force.

Over the next week, see if you can remain mindful of the felt-sense from the session.
